Tesco finally drop Glenn Beck
When the uproar of Glenn Beck calling President Obama a racist started to hit the advertisers, Tesco refused to budge. Despite this, their adverts were few are far between when we began this effort so they were put to one side to focus on the more frequent advertisers. In the past few weeks though that changed and their adverts were more or less on daily during every commercial break. After a fortnight or so I thought I would try to contact them again (via the good old fashioned letter to head office) to inform them what they were helping to fund. This morning 19/12/09 I received a reply to my letter confirming the company would no longer be advertising on the program here in the UK. It states:
I was sorry to learn that you found it unacceptable that Tesco were showing adverts between commercial breaks of Fox News, hosted by Glenn Beck on Sky Television. Please accept my apologies for any disappointment caused.
Having contacted our Advertising Department, they have advise me that our Media Agency have been contacted and the necessary changes have been made to ensure that we do not feature in any ad breaks for this television programme in the future.
You can view the letter for yourself here (just for you people who don’t believe he’s ever lost a sponsor!)
That means 3 of Glenn Beck’s UK sponsors have fled this week alone. Keep up the good work people!
Until next time…
